FREELANCE EXPERIENCE

Stagedoor Manor (USA) - Scenic team lead/Technical director (2016,2017,2018,2019) 

For four consecutive years i have Headed the creative team ( 4 designers, 4 carpenters and 2 swing techs) to ensure the design and fabrication of the productions scenic elements including the creation of fabrication drawings using AutoCAD, time management, budgeting and ordering materials. Working in 4 spaces, ranging from 100 seat studio spaces to 350 seat proscenium auditorium )  producing 7 shows ( in rep) in 4 week ‘sessions’, totalling 21 productions over the 12 week contract. 

The Birmingham Repertory Theatre - Scenic Builder (various contracts 2013-2019)

Working carpentry, metal and props dept produce scenic elements for in house productions which include: PRISM, peter pan, The wizard of Oz, edmond de bergerac, half god of rainfall, of mice and men  blue orange, 12 Angry men, Tartuffe, A Christmas Carol, Rudy's Rare records, BFG, Mad hatters tea party (event), one love, amedee, 101 dalmatians .

Harrogate Theatre services - Scenic builder (2014,2016, 2017)

Creating scenic elements including metal and wood working elements for Le nozze di Figaro  (garsington opera) polycarving tree structures with a timber framework for the production Emily Brown and the thing, last train to scarborough

The Birmingham Repertory Theatre - Assistant Technical designer (2016/17 Season)

Assisting with the drafting and technical design of theatrical set pieces. Drafting in AutoCAD creating ground plans, fabrication drawings as well as calculating and ordering materials. Productions include: Treasure Island, the exorcist, what’s in a name, what shadows 

Rocket Scenery - Scenic builder (Various contracts 2013-2018)

Working in within the carpentry team to produce scenic elements for a variety of theatrical productions. Ranging from building  traditional mortice and tenon flats, cladding steel and aluminium frame work and assembling CNC components. Productions include :  The Painkiller (Garrick theatre, London), Motown the musical (Shaftesbury theatre, London), Dick Whittington (Nottingham Playhouse), The rubenstein kiss (Nottingham playhouse), Hamlet (The Barbican Theatre, London), The bodyguard (UK TOUR), Beautiful (Aldwych theatre, London), Mermaids (Nottingham Playhouse) Frozen ( Haymarket) , wonderland ( Nottingham playhouse,  A skull in connemara (nottingham playhouse ) .

Nottingham Playhouse - Props maker (2014-2016)

Assisting with the creation,modifications and repair of props for in house productions. Creating a curved steel chandelier for  The duchess of Malfi, building larger carpentry elements such as beds and practical carts as well as the breakdown and aging of handheld props. Productions include : DickWhittington, The hare and the tortoise, Aladdin, revenger's tragedy, Darkness darkness, The underground man.

Building exhibitions in situ for Hardwick Hall a, National Trust building, to enhance the visitor experience when visiting the Hall. Exhibitions include:The Smythsons exhibit,The Cope room display,The Wizard’s Room

OTHER EXPERIENCE

Design coordinator

The wizard’s room: Hardwick Hall

To design and theme a room for the National Trust. The brief was to make the

room interactive and education for younger visitors as well as ensuring any

props could not be removed and were sympathetic to the antiques in the hall.

A full time position hand finishing of prototype master models as well as the

finishing of vacuum castings in a company that focuses on the prototype

disciplines of stereolithography (3d printing) , product finishing, silicon tooling and vacuum casting.
